Tips for Selecting your weights
Most people are surprised the first time they pull the cable.
“This feels different!”
Well, they’re right. It DOES feel different! Twenty pounds of motorized weight isn’t quite like twenty pounds of free weights. Here are some tips for selecting your weights on ARENA.
- If you’re accustomed to lifting free weights, expect to set ARENA at 5-10 lb lighter than what you would usually use.
- If you’re new to working out, don’t worry! Before your first workout, the weights found in the Go ARENA app are preset to 25 lb for lower body movements and 15 lb for upper body movements.
- Regardless of where you start, you can increase and decrease the weight in the pre-workout summary screen or at any time during your workout.
- After your first pre-programmed workout or freestyle session where your exercises are selected, ARENA will remember the weights you used for each exercise and preset them for your next workout, slowly increasing over time.
“But how do I actually get stronger?”
The principle of progressive overload is, well, exactly what it sounds like. The intensity and volume of your workouts will ebb and flow, but over time these metrics will increase as a whole. Both pushing your body and giving it time to recover are key factors in becoming stronger. Luckily, we track that for you with our Optimal Training Dose. TL;DR, We can get you from A to B, regardless of where you start 👊
